Popeye and Penny are now officially home alone, this is day 3 since the cygnets departed the River, the earliest that their offspring have ever fledged. Our previous adult swans were pretty regular at seeing off their cygnets, usually around the 6th of October every year as it happens! Popeye and Penny seem to be very relaxed, enjoying the new found freedom and each others company. A few pics to remind you all of what 5 months can achieve in the wonderful world of Swans !
WE ARE CUSTODIANS OF THE PLANET AND HAVE A DUTY TO CARE FOR IT. For the past 18 years I've had the privilege of watching and caring for the resident Swans on our local river estuary. I have been charmed and fascinated by their parental skills and beauty in the water, they are Simply Superb Swans. Annual Membership to the River Nairn Swans and Waterfowl Trust is £20 for a family, can be paid securely through the PayPal Donate button below. Thank you.

Another success story Joe--well done that man.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice not to have lost any to predators of any kind. Although they have gone a wee bit early, they were in excellent physical condition and fit to leave. The parents now have a long time to recover before next spring !
