Having lost Millie my dog this time last year, I knew it was the last dog I would ever have. I am not fit enough to have another, and in any case I have a new companion - Neuro my disabled Duck !
She was the runt of the rectory brood and unsteady on her feet with neurological damage, she is not keen on the water either which is surprising for a duck. She is happy to come indoors at night and has now accepted me as a companion.
While typing this post she is happy to sleep on my lap. There is something really special about being in tune, and having a connection with another species. Movie clip below.
