The Cushie Doo

One of my favourite common wild birds is the Cushie Doo, Scots for Wood Pigeon.

When I was a kid during the early 1950s when food was still rationed, we used to go looking for Cushie doo eggs, like a small white bantam hens egg.

My Mother would make French toast to make them go further !

I look at them now with great admiration, they are gentle birds, with lovely subtle colours. Beautiful !
