Getting The Low Down

Took some low down shots of some of my regular pals on the river today.

Bluey the rock dove is the most friendly of the pigeons, and has charmed quite a few people over the past year.

The cygnets too are incredibly well behaved and orderly.

I do wish you would stop feeding and attracting more pigeons, especially to merryton bridge, have you ever considered what all the wildlife which you tamed will do when you are no longer around, I think its safe to say some people appreciate your work with injured birds, you have attracted so many birds to that area now with your constant feeding that when you leave this earth , what's the chances of so many surviving on wild food

Well Frank, It will be a sad state of affairs if no one continues to care for the birds after I'm gone. That is the reason I started the River Nairn Swans and Waterfowl Trust, precisely to look after them and for the common good. The wildlife are not tamed, they tolerate me because I have helped rear many when they were ducklings and there is an element of trust. As for the Pigeons, they have used the bridge for years and nest underneath it, I did not attract them there.
I think it's safe to say that the majority of Nairn people enjoy having the birds gracing our river, and the trust membership is now 157 strong. Perhaps you would care to join and help ensure the continuance of the lovely water birds on the river ?
