Well it could be a case of get rid of the competition...or avoid any family problems...or maybe he is besotted with some other cygnet elsewhere ! In any case I hope he is OK.
Colin just said he and Euan saw a single swan today at Whiteness, it was too far away to tell if it was a cygnet though.
Could be, he may return yet. Someone else mentioned to me today that they saw 2 swans in a field at Auldearn this morning.
