Penny and Duke keeping each other company today.
This time last year they were teaching the cygnets to fly, with flights around the town.

Trying to do the right thing by the little duckling that was brought home by a cat, I felt obliged to give it some company for the next couple of months until release.
I knew there was a mother with 7 ducklings of a similar age, and might be suitable for companionship. I could not risk giving it to her because of certain rejection.
The lonely duckling was peeping constantly for it's mother, so this gave me the incentive to borrow one of hers yesterday afternoon.
The situation has now improved, and both ducklings enjoy each others company. At least this is 2 the crows wont get either!
Our beautiful duo Popeye and Penny are in excellent condition and look great together. I had the opportunity during a short sunny spell for some in- step shots as they were coming for a feed.
