A Taste Of Spring

Slim and Sue are wasting no time bonding, a day after expelling the cygnets from their home territory. 

The weather was positively spring like, following the previous weeks cold spell. 

They reminded me of Penny and Popeye in their heyday.

                  Rewarding me with a beautiful show of nature at it's best !

HAPPY EASTER !

Easter is the traditional time for renewal, this could not have been more apt today at the Swans Island.

Penny and Duke were full of the joys, and had a beautiful mating session to continue the legacy and life of the Swans. 

                        I was privileged to be on hand to record the event as the sequence of shots show.

Penny was the prime mover and Duke was happy to oblige.

                         I was particularly taken when Penny put her neck right across Dukes neck and back indicating she was ready to mate, then putting her wings down into the water to allow him access onto her back.

Finishing with a Swan lake water ballet, all quite wonderful.... A nature lesson for everyone.... Enjoy !

Mating - Swan Lake

Popeye and Penny are still in the business of creating new offspring to grace our river.

My camera has been sent away for repair, but currently using my canon power shot over the last week.

Swan Lake - Nairn

Popeye and Penny are nesting for the 6th year in a row, today they gave me a truly wonderful Swan lake display . 

The light was far from perfect, but I was privileged to witness a full mating session, and can see perhaps where Tchaikovsky got inspiration for his music. 

It also partly inspired me to form the River Nairn Swans & Waterfowl Trust.
