The Young cob that crashed twice in the past two weeks is still trying to return to the river ! I am beginning to think that it might well be one of Popeye and Penny's returning Son's.
Today I watched as Popeye (our
resident cob) escorted the young turk round the island and out of the river, I was surprised at how tolerant he was with this young cob, there have been no blows struck - which is unusual considering the timing and proximity to the island nest site. Maybe Popeye knows he is one of his own, and not yet mature?
