Cygnets Fly In

With a southerly blustery wind, Slim , Sue and cygnets flew in for their morning feed. As usual, Runty is still not flying and behind in development still. The river is extremely low and landing space limited for birds with a 6 foot wingspan, no wonder, one got injured last week. After the feed, was time for a rest in the Autumn sunshine. Short video of the flight in below.

Wow, Joe, what a lovely video of your swan family flying!
I am still waiting to see my family flying together. I have seen the cygnets practising to fly. I have also seen two of them landing on the canal after a circular flight up and over the canal. One landed short the other day on a field adjacent to the canal. He had to be walked through the trees and into the water. His four siblings had all landed safely on the canal.
Hope you are well.

Take care and keep safe x Wendy

Hi Wendy, Good to hear your Cygnets are doing the same thing. They do have flying accidents, and sometimes get injured with hard landings. Good that you walked that one back to the Canal. Windy weather can mean being blown off course too! Lovely to see and hear them fly over though.
Take care, Joe x
