Birds Galore !

The Swans are coming on and should be getting flying lessons soon. I also had a rough count of ducks the other day when they were sitting on the island and also at the footbridge shingle bed.
I counted 125 from the harbour to the footbridge, so that appears to be up on last year. I think a lot of them have come in from up river and elsewhere, getting settled in before the autumn / winter !

I also heard from a regular river dog walker, that a woman let her large brown spaniel down into the river at the bailey bridge and it killed two ducks ! This was middle of last week just after 8pm, she then drove off in a silver audi. This is unacceptable dog ownership and action will be taken if it happens again ! The river wildlife are not fair game and deadly entertainment for people's dogs !

The river looks really good just now with the Ducks, Swans Goosanders etc, admired by all !
I also heard that a lovely fresh salmon weighing 16lbs covered with sea lice was caught and returned by an angler from perthshire, nice to see someone doing the right thing.

Update on Sonny the seagull, he is livelier but still limping on that right foot. He tends to sit and rest it most of the time and cleverly picks a spot on the path where he can sit on his knee/ elbow joint, and rest his foot on the grass. Check the photo and you can see how the right leg joint is more swollen and being held up on the grass, real intelligence. Obviously painful though !
